Creating a one on one journey, or with a parent
Our culture provides little conscious recognition and acknowledgement for the passage from youth into young adulthood and beyond. I am increasingly being asked to create experiences that assist young people to “find their ground” and have a safe, extended opportunity to express what is true for them in a private confidential environment. Taking a journey into nature guarantees a contrast to our increasing pace and necessity of being wired into the media world.
The desire for a journey may come out of a wake up call from the consequences of unwise actions, from struggles with addictive patterns, relationship changes, a period of deep questioning as to what the next step is or just a need to be really seen and heard for who you are outside of the normal currents of living.
How often is there space and time for a young person to slow down, walk in nature; to let go of the constant social engagement and look inside? For a parent to create an opening like this with their daughter or son?
The journey can be:
- Creating a wilderness journey similar in structure and experience to the Private Adult Journey I offer.
- These can be arranged for a few days (often a long weekend) to a whole week.
- One on one or in combination with a parent.
- The work together can also be a series of local sessions for those in the San Francisco Bay area, combining time in our local natural settings with private indoor sessions.
